About

Hi. I’m Shannon.

Working Sandbox is a personal blog, written from the perspective of a “technology Zen hippie geek” (my wife’s words).

That title may not say who I am, exactly, but the fact that others have called me by variations of those words for many years means there’s at least a bit of the TZHG that must apply to me.

Topics you will find on this blog include:

  • Cubicle life
  • Being calm in the face of busy
  • Office work
  • Relationships and communication
  • Enjoyment of Life’s Little Details
  • Consuming life
  • Technology
  • Software development, as it applies to Normal People

The blog’s title – “Working Sandbox” – is intended to convey an idea of:

  • Things that are a work-in-progress.
  • Those same things, also being fully functioning parts of our lives.

One might describe the situation as: “We are never done, so let’s just go.”

In technology, a “sandbox” is a technical playground, where new ideas can be tried and learned about. Life is like that, eh?

Hope you decide to stick around! I’m looking forward to getting to know you..

Oh, and if you’d like to know about my professional life, you can check-out my updated resume.

Credits

I make heavy use of icons from IconFinder and graphics from the Open Clip Art Library. I also often pull images from Wikimedia via the Zemanta plugin for WordPress, which is great at suggesting images by analyzing the text of your post.

As far as other technologies and tools I rely on, a few highlights below. I tend not to enable any of the “credit” links in my plugins because I feel like they take away from the visual of the blog – instead I will try to keep this “Credit” section up-to-date with links to the tools I use. I believe this is more valuable anyway, since I am not just promoting the tool, but I am also giving some reasons as to why.

Other blogs I administer for family members – which generally means my wife:

Cheers… And as always, thanks for reading!
